Responsible for quality assurance (QA) aspects of the project as it relates to verification, validation, test, and technical documentation of legacy and new applications. The Test Engineer supports development staff in unit, system, regression, and integration testing of any and all parts of the application before delivery to the customer. The Test Engineer reviews software requirements, participates in software design review, and develops test plans and procedures for all phases of testing from integration to full system test. The Test Engineer develops and executes formal test procedures based on user and systems requirements, and is able to develop load and performance testing scenarios.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Collaborate with developers; provide feedback and insight to development teams on requirements and testability
• Create and execute test plans, cases, and scripts
• Peer reviewing test cases
• Recommend and develop new, innovative, and efficient process improvements to current testing processes and methodologies including use of automated testing approaches
• Author standard QA artifacts such as Defects, RTMs, Test Reports, and Release Notes
• Provide work estimates and status reports for test efforts, and ensure assigned tasks are prioritized.
Required Education:
12+ Years with BS or 10+ Years with MS or 7+ Years with PhD
Required Experience:
Required Skills:
• 5-10 years’ test engineering experience (may substitute system engineering experience) • Solid understanding of the SDLC • Linux Operating Systems • VMware • Knowledge of issue tracking systems (JIRA preferred). • Proficiency with a formal scripting language • Demonstrated technical writing skills • Excellent communication skills and experience in collaborative environments
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in QA leadership roles, establishing testing best practices, creating and executing thorough test cases, peer reviewing test cases, and creating processes to drive product validation • Experience with embedded software/software testing or embedded software development • Experience managing traceability between requirements and test cases • Systems Engineering experience • Industry certifications (ISTQB, CSTB, etc.) • Experience with defect management and configuration management process • Experience defining, estimating, tracking, and reporting test progress • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with concentration on software, or equivalent knowledge in the area of software engineering.
